Our ancestors had a dream of connecting all devices with one operating device. Yes, their dream came true with IoT. IoT came into an idea in the year 1982–97. The idea of intelligence and sensors was discussed this year.

At that time technology was not premium and bulky, so communication didn’t happen effectively. Later a proposal was sent to Microsoft to generate integrated automated devices.

But these devices can easily sense real-time data without any hindrance of human beings. Devices go dumb if IoT technology was not introduced.

Today in 2021, billions of devices are connected to the internet. These devices collect, share and performs data activity.

IDC (Tech analyst company) predicts that there will be 41.6 billion IoT connected devices by 2025. While Gartner (Tech analyst company) says there will be 5.8 billion devices in 2020–21. This will bring revolution in the automotive sector, healthcare and enterprises.

This was somehow the bright side of the IoT but let’s cover the jeopardy of IoT too. The Internet also has its dark sides. A RED hack happened recently, hacker pulled out all the source code from the game of CYBERPUNK 2077 & WITCHER 3 and were sold to the dark web to the highest bidder.

In IoT, once a system is unlocked it can be accessible to all devices and data. Though security firms have strong anti-viruses how to deal with the loopholes is the major problem.

Great! one fact got cleared let clear other facts also. A question arises “What happens when IoT meets AI”. Well, this transformation is still in process and named ALoT(“Artificial Intelligence of Things”).

let’s get elaborated with the conventional data and AI. Conventional data helps IoT deployment but as a comparison with AI, AI performs better, faster and with greater accuracy. Where AI aids structured data set, retains IoT devices interoperability as well as draw an outcome for real-time analysis. That results in less cumbersome with the immediate benefit of faster analysis for stakeholders.

Unstructured Data

Realistic data of IoT comes from different sources. Implementing these data sources results in blending and thus the data obtained is not structured. And for this multiple data analysis techniques(sentimental analysis) are used to handle unstructured data. Thus is becomes time-consuming. Whereas in AI, aggregated the unstructured data from various sources, operates it and represents it into solidarity format. Thus AI saves the precious time and effort applied to unstructured data handling.

Transformation of Unstructured data

After the processing of unstructured data, the system or the model takes out more useful insights from it. Where AI and ML are the key players. This functionality increases and unbinds that liberates the real potential of any data.

Metadata

Metadata is the short information about the big or any sort of data. Metadata plays a crucial role in the connectivity of IoT devices. It follows the communication protocol with the use of AI and ML. Thus from here, AI shows its’s contribution towards the analysis part.

But there is a major segment that will be unleashed and headed by LOT and AI together shortly. Smart Healthcare — Wear devices is really impacting health care, Smartwatches can continuously track the habits of user and body activities. This will lead to generating an $85–88 billion revenue by 2023.

Smart Residence
Now the science fiction movies will relatedly be true. With a one voice command of your will leverage appliances, lightning, and other electronic devices. According to CAGR smart home tech will boost up to $246 billion by 2025.

Smart Cosmopolis
Cities have to be safer and more convenient to live in. The smart city will open innovation and keep the pace towards improving transport, public safety and energy efficiency. Delhi has been introduced with the ITMS (Intelligent Transport Management System) to deal with real-time traffic flow.

Smart Industry
To reduce human error AI and IoT are efficiently used in Industries. With the digital transformation, data analytics supply chain technology and smart devices have undoubtedly reduced the errors in this industry.

It is the reason behind the scenes where you receive a servicing SMS alert of AC, Car and other devices on the exact date or as per usage.

Data analytics
IoT is the pool of data. A forecast report suggests by 2020 worlds data is around 44 zettabytes, where IoT hold 10% in it. With the data, ML and AI algorithms can benefit governments, consumers and businesses by emending the raw data into valuable data using ML and AI.

Conclusion

Merging of various data related technologies will leverage and facilitate the decision-making easy and supportive. It will support the industries with cost reduction, monitoring and data collection.

AI will become a bigger thing, cars and appliances will become smarter, and privacy & security concerns will arise. No doubt IoT benefit consumers and further acceleration towards digital transformation.
